Edward Van Halen's magical brownsound - as it appears on the early classic albums with all it's subtle yet stellar nuances - has been slavishly researched over many years by journalist/guitarist/producer Martin Smith.

Using period correct outboard including the infamous Dolby A "Trick" - which expands the treble without harshness - and an amp di signal to add presence. We captured our 1969 plexi, a 1976 JMP,  Ossie Ahsen's Marshmello "The One" and a Bray CoCo50.

A Boss GE10 eq was used to push the right profile through the various amps and reamped combinations in addition to DI'd, Dolby only and cab ir profiles. Simply adjust the gain in ToneX to match the heat of your pickups and your tone will be "On Fire"!!
